A flag is the curved mark attached to the stem of a note that indicates shorter note values, such as eighth notes, sixteenth notes and shorter durations.
What is a flag?
A single flag represents an eighth note, two flags represent a sixteenth note and three flags represent a thirty-second note. When several flagged notes appear consecutively, their flags are usually replaced by beams to make the notation easier to read.
