How to play the C7 piano chord

(Basic C7 piano chord and Inversions of the C7 piano chord)

  • Chord symbol: C7
  • The C7 chord is a 4-note-chord (a tetrad)
  • A seventh chord consists of 4 notes: Root note, Major third, Fifth, Minor seventh
  • The 4 notes in the C7 chord are: C – E – G – Bb
  • A seventh chord can basically be played in root position and 3 inversions (Total of 4 positions): Root note at the bottom, Major third at the bottom, The fifth at the bottom, Minor 7th. at the bottom.
