Find chords, piano.
How this page is arranged.
The bright observer will have noticed that the chords on this page is arranged as the circle of fifths.
The circle of fifths is a way to better overlook how many sharps and flats are present in a certain musical key.
At the top of the chord chart you will find the key of C major. The key of C major has no sharps or flats. This is means that you can play all the notes and chords using just the white keys on your piano.
Every time you move one step clockwise in the circle – you have to ad one sharp to the scale.
And – every time you move one step counter-clockwise in the circle – you have to ad one flat to the scale.
Moreover – you will notice that the black keys on the piano all have two names.
If the chord or note gets its name from the white key to the left of it – it will be called a sharp – using the symbol #.
If the chord or note gets its name from the white key to the right of it – it will be called a flat – using the symbol b.
Okay? Now it’s time to go ahead and find the chords you need to play the song you are working on.
Best. Niels.
