A jingle is a short, memorable musical phrase used to identify or promote a brand, product, radio station, television programme, or other media.
What is a Jingle?
Jingles are designed to be easily recognized and remembered. They are typically only a few seconds long and often combine a simple melody with lyrics, a slogan, or a distinctive musical motif.
Because of their brevity, jingles rely on clear melodies, strong rhythms, and concise musical ideas that listeners can quickly associate with a particular brand or programme.
How is a Jingle used in piano playing?
Pianists may perform, arrange, or compose jingles using simple melodies and effective harmonic support. Writing short musical ideas is also a useful exercise in creating memorable melodic phrases.
Many of the compositional techniques used in jingles—such as repetition, strong melodic hooks, and clear harmonic resolution—also appear in popular songs and film music.
