Ring modulation is an audio effect that combines two signals to create new frequencies, producing distinctive metallic, bell-like, or robotic sounds.

Ring modulation works by multiplying two audio signals together. Instead of simply mixing the sounds, the process generates new frequencies based on the sum and difference of the original frequencies. This often produces inharmonic overtones that give the effect its unique metallic character.
