Vibraslap – Definition
A vibraslap is a percussion instrument that produces a distinctive rattling, vibrating sound. It was developed as a modern version of the traditional donkey jawbone instrument and is widely used as a special effect in many styles of music.
What is a Vibraslap?
The original instrument was made from the dried jawbone of a donkey or horse, whose loose teeth rattled when struck. The modern vibraslap recreates this sound using a metal rod attached to a wooden or metal resonator with internal vibrating components.
The instrument produces a unique percussive effect that is instantly recognizable in rock, pop, Latin music, film scores, and television themes.
