Middle C is the C located near the centre of the piano keyboard. It serves as an important reference point for pianists and for reading musical notation.

In scientific pitch notation, Middle C is designated C4. On a standard 88-key piano, it is the fourth C from the left. In staff notation, Middle C is written on its own ledger line between the treble clef and the bass clef.
