G-flat major is a major key based on the note G-flat. Its key signature contains six flats: B♭, E♭, A♭, D♭, G♭ and C♭.
What is G-flat major?
The G-flat major scale consists of the notes G♭, A♭, B♭, C♭, D♭, E♭ and F. Its relative minor is E-flat minor, which shares the same key signature.
G-flat major is enharmonically equivalent to F-sharp major. Although both keys sound the same in equal temperament, they are written differently depending on the harmonic context.
How is G-flat major used in piano playing?
