C minor is a minor key based on the note C. Its key signature contains three flats: B♭, E♭ and A♭.
What is C minor?
The C natural minor scale consists of the notes C, D, E♭, F, G, A♭ and B♭. Its relative major is E-flat major, which shares the same key signature.
The primary chords in C minor are C minor (i), F minor (iv) and G minor (v). In harmonic minor, the dominant chord is often changed to G major or G7 by raising the seventh scale degree to create a stronger resolution.
How is C minor used in piano playing?
